No, SV was a pretty good game. I enjoyed it more than any other mainline game in the franchise. No retarded arbitrary roadblocks, actually giving a shit about the writing, decent difficulty if you play it in intended order, overworld mons actually interacting with the world and doing things besides just standing around, characters I give a shit about, a solid gameplay loop, and the best finale in the series

agreed desu. personally i got nostalgia for the wii, but i see why people gave it shit these days, which is to say mostly cause of that. however at least the wii at least had a decent handful of strange, off the wall games, the switch just feels like nintendo catching up to the rest of the industry and having everything become too corporate. would do em good if they actually had to work to make their stuff standout again. basically normalfags ruin everything

yeah that's the issue they've become so corporate and standard with their business practices and yet the tech hasn't caught up and basic features haven't caught up. If it weren't for their beloved IPs, they'd be fucked because they're offering less for the same price

Switch era has been the worst for core Pokemon, because the games are more ambitious in scope while keeping with the whole 3 year release thing. The cut corners are more and more noticeable.

Snap 2, Pokken and Mystery Dungeon were great, more limited scope and by different studios probably under way less pressure.

DS Era was easily the best, no question. GBA is the only other one that even comes close. DS Era not only had arguably the best mainline games with Platinum, HGSS, and BW/BW2, but also still had a large abundance of experimental new spinoff titles and improved updated entries of spinoff series introduced on the GB and GBA.
From 3DS onward not only do we start seeing fewer new spinoff ideas, but the existing spinoff series see some of their worst entries and many of them die with the 3DS.
The Switch is definitely the worst. Most spinoff series are dead, and those that survive are only with ports of old titles, not even new releases. Mobage has risen in popularity, the paid online storage model introduced with Bank on the 3DS doesn't even work with new games on release or ever in the case of mons that have been dexcut, the mainline games are getting worse and worse, and even the remakes of DP are low quality compared to the remakes of old that we saw on the GBA, DS, and 3DS.

In Scarlet you run out of things to do quickly. There's nothing for a post game once you finish Area Zero besides a handful of 5* raids to unlock 6-7*. If my gf wasn't a shitter who can't do raids I'd have turned my copy in a few days after purchase. Instead I solo the raids then trade or breed the raidmon for her.

Snap is at least fun in that there's different routes to unlock, different paths for day/night, and you need to replay courses to get different pokemon. The judging criteria is very different from the original Snap- some pics that would have been perfect on n64 were only 1-2* and others that would have been shit on n64 were 3-4*. Plus the pokemon in the overworld actually have character. I'd like to see Bamco do a mainline Pokemon entry- they have experience through the Digimon World/Story series and programming competence to make decent animations for every single pokemon without sacrificing other areas like floor integrity and feminine women.
