The anime did this weird thing where certain Pokemon were almost made out to be 'bad guys' and therefore lesser than the other mons. Specifically:

>Charizard
>Beedrill line
>Raticate line
>Arbok line
>Persian line
>Primeape line
>Hypno line
>Hitmonlee
>Pinsir
>Omastar line
>Kabutops line
>Aerodactyl

I get that a couple of these are 'le character development xD' but many of these species are depicted as cunts in the wild. Though I guess you could justify it as them being more territorial than other Pokemon.

An espeon or umbreon would make sense. He didn't want to evolve it but it would naturally evolve anyway at some point due to high friendship.

Aside from the Lt. Surge episode in OS most of the time it's less "Evolve bad" and more that raw power can't compensate for lack of experience/strategy.

I cant recall the specifuc episode where this trend started but I hated that the anime made Misty give up togepi, Jessie and James give up arbok and weezing, etc. Did those pokemon mean nothing to them? That's like if the writers had Ash rekease Pikachu for good and it was a permanent decision and not a fakeout like Pikachu's Goodbye. Fuck that bitch that made Misty get rid of togepi. Death to the monarchy.

She cut her hair after the ribbon she cut for Fennekin made the Pokemon trip and making them lose the performance after freezing up on stage with Fennekin. It was her first major loss and it really affected her as up to that point even before joining Ash she tried things before abandoning them as her mother pointed out. She cut her hair and changed her look as a "new" her, determined to not give up this time.

Meanwhile Paul's Torterra was a beast.
Turtwig becoming a massive jobber after evolving was fucking awful writing. Paul's Torterra even taught him how to deal with his newfound heavier bulkier body and even learned Rock Climb for mobility's sake.
There was no excuse and they did it anyway.
