Someone reached rank 1 with Tropius and it's been getting some attention in the last week or so.
Turns out Tropius is decent at stalling with Leech Seed and Harvest when it can tera into a good type like Water. And it also has Wide Guard for support.

It's mostly novelty. The best counterplay is to ignore him as you'll just be wasting attacks on him that need to be directed into the other person, he only becomes a real issue if you built your team around a spread move and then you have a real problem on your hands (but you'd have the same problems with Garganacl). I imagine good Tropius play involves taking advantage of the expectation that your opponent will try to ignore Tropius until the end, with a copious amount of Protecting by your other mons.
