>>53154047It is definitely something about their philosophies. Some of these Japanese game devs include: "We will tell you what to like and how to play it" plus a "each game should feel unique (even when going 1, 2, 3 on a series)"
These are reflected on different ways on their IPs, a clear example is Nintendo not bending their knee to bring more F-Zero or Mother games. "No, you can't have more of those games because we say so, period" and "No, you can't have more because we haven't found a way to make a new game to those IP feel unique".
Many fans (let's call this section of fandom a "Hardcore Legacy Group") feel that any and all sequels/new releases should be an accumulation of previous regions, gyms, gimmicks, roster, etc. plus new content (this also applies to other franchises too). But those devs will shy away more on the principle of autistically having an "unique" experience than the "it's too much work, we can't justify it" excuse we believe they shield themselves with. We clearly see this in the way they drop certain features and make new ones to fill their place instead because they already have coded those things and barring a new engine or outright tossing away that code, it makes no real sense to just dump them out between subsecuent games
As an addenum, Dexit is empowered and empowers these philosophies when designing new Pokemon games going forward and they won't go back on their word unless they actually want to do so; no matter how hard the fandom or journos or whoever cries about it
