I am 33. Aren't the full odds still 1 in 4k without the charm/Picnic trick? I mean sy bol encounters with the old random encounters shiny formula would make shinier more common because multiple mons are spawned at once and you don't need to battle them to see if shiny.

Maybe your battery died. Try getting a new battery. If that doesn't work, send it to Nintendo for repair. I'm sure it's a lot cheaper than buying a new one.

are you jumping to conclusions or have you let it charge awhile? sometimes mine just randomly wont come on or give any indication it works even if i plug it in, and i just have to leave it alone awhile and it magically works again. the switch truly is the worst console nintendo has made and its the only one ive ever had problems with.

Switch games are tied to your user profile, you can even transfer them to another Switch and keep your save even if you sell your catridges. As long as the console is alive and the memory (Switch's internal memory where saves are stored) works you'll have a save. If you have a NSO sub you can back up your saves in the cloud, HOWEVER, several games (including Pokemon games: SWSH, LGPE, PLA, BDSP and SV) don't save to the cloud. Blame Nintendo's autism on keeping a leash on certain games with online content

I thought my switch was fucked because it wouldn't turn on even when it was plugged in. It turned out the outlet I was using was actually fucked and the switch was fine. Might be worth trying different outlets or even a different power cable.

So let’s say I have Scarlet data with a bunch of Pokemon I value and my Switch breaks for some reason (fall damage, water, etc.). Am I screwed, or is my data and Pokemon safe as long as I have a NSO sub so I can just get a new Switch?

It's safe if it turns on and you have enother switch nearby to start the transfer process.

Pokemon saves are gone forever if it won't turn on anymore.

There are no cloud saves for Pokemon games even if you pay your NSO sub. What >>53139156 says is absolutely correct, transfer process is relatively short and painless but you'd need another Switch to move your saves

Pkhex should have an option to print out a pokemon to a series of QR codes, which you could then print out and physically store.
Or to a hex string that you could save somewhere.

Which you could then load back in to get your mon.

Try contacting support, I think I saw somebody with a completely dead switch able to get their data transferred over at some point once they got another switch. Might be worth a shot to get your bros back.

All of them have extremely easy shinies to find. Flutter especially, because thanks to the bug only shiny one will spawn if you eat sandwich for sparkling and encounter for it during day

The odds dont really matter as much when you’re doing hundreds of encounters every few minutes. Every person who has played SV has no doubt missed dozens of shinies by running past them in a single playthrough

Sending it to Nintendo probably won't help with save data though. My brother had a similar issue when BDSP first came out and called them up about sending it in but they said they do not guarantee that any save data will be transferred so you should use the cloud backup. If the game does not support cloud backup then they literally have no plan. Also Nintendo doesn't really repair your switch and send it to you, they usually just send a different switch they did a system transfer on back to you and then someone eventually fixes up the busted switch if possible to sell as a refurb on their own site or to wipe and use for someone else's system transfer so don't send special edition models, you might get a regular one back.
