I wish mainline games had more areas like sky pavilion , I miss those more grandiose ancient mystic areas in the games

The Lake of the Sunne/Moone in Alola was pretty close, just stumbling across a massive coliseum suspended above a whirlpool was actually really fucking cool, alongside the alt. universe shift and finding a new Cosmog there. Unfortuntely that's the only thing to do in that area, so it goes largely forgotten.

Holy shit are you me? This is probably one of the biggest reasons I'm able to like Sinnoh in spite of it's flaws, it just barely carries over the sort of feeling that these areas have. I'll admit it requires some imagination due to the very simple visuals, but hey I mean I got some imagination.

the lack of fantasy areas is probably the biggest problem with Paldea. The closest is the northeast with the bamboo forest and black crystal thingies, but the region is generally grounded.

Pokemon needs to capitalize on its rich untapped fantasy elements. I didn't play PLA but it sounds like that's the closest we'll get. Best bet is to hope gf does something like that for the other regions

For me, Paldean areas don't feel significant in the way that older locations did. Maybe it's a consequence of the open world, or the ease of travel, but most of the locations just feel like backgrounds for events to happen, or fast-travel points. With the possible exception of Area Zero, nowhere in Paldea captures the anticipation of climbing Mt. Coronet, or the excitement of riding across Skyarrow Bridge.

It was a good series, not best, a bit too simple even, but it was a pretty fun time, the places were nice and it felt pretty nice befriending the pokemon, it was kinda like a colectathon
