The Gen 1 games were extremely barebones in terms of lore and worldbuilding. It was inevitable that the anime would define the public perception of Pokemon over the nothingburger that was the games.

Neither does the one in the anime, retard. He's using his psychic powers to communicate telepathically and levitate. There have been numerous references to Pokemon doing that. Not to mention all the Pokemon that can float through the air despite not having Fly or Levitate.

It's weird how much of a hold the anime has on everything to the point that it stops making sense
Now game meowth walks on 2 legs even just to imitate ONE meowth from the anime who eventually became the standard for Meowth.
Not to mention Pokemon in more recent games say their names when spoken to!

Mewtwo doesn't levitate in things based directly off the games like Origins

This would imply all psychic pokemon have telepathy. Mewtwo showed no signs of Telepathy in Origins, just telekinesis. Mewtwo with Telepathy only happens in incarnations based on movie 1 mewtwo

Same thing with Lucario. It is not normal for a Lucario to be able to speak

Came here to say it. Meowth was always my number one favorite Pokemon but absolutely hate the fact that they made it bipedal now and we’ll never get cute and cat-like appearances like the sprites from Gen 1 and 2 again.And then there is the drug addict skinny artwork now…

It's so weird. You can tell team rockets meowth was just a specific case in early gens.

Even its yellow sprite only looks that way so that it can be Team Rocket's meowth. Every meowth sprite up to gen 3 makes it look like its merely temporarily standing up similar to a real cat.
Another thing is how its eyes are unfocused, keeping it from looking too human.
Then as time goes on every meowth is just team rocket's meowth but mute

Mew can literally learn fly, and Mewtwo is her clone, so it seems perfectly reasonable. As for speaking - it's a Psychic pokemon. It doesn't need to speak because it can literally just shove its thoughts into your head to communicate. The implication, even in the anime, is that Mewtwo DOESN'T speak (its mouth doesn't move at all) and it's just the characters' brains interpreting the thoughts Mewtwo is projecting into their heads. Technically, any skilled Psychic type could do the same.
