One of the more prominent things I've noticed returning to both PLA and SwSh after SV is that while SV does graphically suck, it at least has fairly cohesive world design and that bright, kid friendly color scheme at almost any part.
PLA has a very cohesive design theory with characters complementing the world, and the notably muted color schemes compared to other titles with a strong preference for complementary colors in every location. Everything is easy to digest as the same game. SV almost comes to this I feel, but areas like the very north corner of the map as this perfect flower field in the ice mountain and the Team Star base designs stick out as weird.
SwSh, in contrast, has the most incohesive style I've ever seen. Every route and the two shitty caves has to have some stupid unique features that make them all feel like from entirely different games. The wild area is so fucking awful and it's like someone slapped Lego sets together and called it a day without even attempting to blend them together. Even the color theory of any area gets so far apart from direct neighbors it looks terrible. The fucking desert bowl in the center of the map, why????? Completely surrounded by perfectly normal grassy terrain on all sides??? At least they started to get it right with the DLC areas being much more focused and expansive to let open areas breathe instead of clumping them together. At an inherent level, I think SwSh is just so poorly designed that it cannot be recovered.
