This may as well be one of the most infamous example in every discussion that's about moves a Pokémon should be able to learn but can't. People say things like Gyarados should have a Flying STAB other than Bounce but at least that Pokémon is competent in battles. Aurorus on the other hand is slow, the weaknesses it has are common even in a playthrough, and one of its STABs (Rock) that make use of its Special Attack are useless.
Does Game Freak care if people want Aurorus buffed? No. And it's just going to show if Aurorus gets added to SV in the DLC if it still can't learn Power Gem considering the move has actual distribution now. Why should Garchomp be able to learn it if Aurorus can't? Aurorus has a plethora of crystals lining its neck, tail, and body with one on its head while Garchomp doesn't have any of that.
