I'm making a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 clone but with Pokémon. Please leave suggestions for which mons I should include, their playstyles, their super-moves, and their taunt.
No human characters please, only monsters.

I'm curious, what's your workflow? Sprite edits? Hand drawn animation? Working off 3D as a base?

What engine? We talking mugen or ikemen or something? unity or unreal?

I tried to do something similar before but the sheer amount of work that went into animating without a good base or team floored me.

I had this idea a long time ago too, anon. Good for you. There's also that Japanese fan game that does it. Somebody in this thread will know the name, but it had playable Gengar, Chansey, Snorlax, Breloom, Combusken and Blaziken.... What the fuck was the name?

Even tho they're not on my og list, I'd also love to see Alolan Raichu, Hawlucha, Tinkaton, and Eiscuen. All four would be pretty amusing in a 2d fighter

Besides the obvious ones like fighting/humanoid pokemon here's one:

Dusknoir
Standing LMH punch would just be punches
Standing LMH kicks would come out as 'shadow feet' from the stomach mouth
Crouching LMH punches would just be punches
Crouching LMH kicks would be dusknoir putting its tail/wisp into the ground and it coming back up in front of it from the ground
Hadouken input LMH - a radio/shockwave projectile (from its antennae. Shadow ball seems too obvious here)
Shoryuken input LMH - Shadow Punch: Dusknoir doesn't jump up with the uppercut, but instead throws a punch in an upward direction and the punch manifests a fist of energy that continues in an upward trajectory
Tatsumaki input LMH - Disable, depending on the LMH input, Dusknoir can temporarily disable the opponents "special" move inputs for 3 seconds
Special (hadouken) - shadow ball i guess
Special (shoryuken) - shadow punch - pretty much same as the regular shoryuken input but powered up with Will-O-Wisp so the opponent gets burn damage
Special (tatsumaki) - Curse: dusknoir curses the opponent and the opponent becomes slower (similar to viewtiful joe's slow special in mvc3/u)
Level 3 - destiny bond - if Dusknoir is KO'd, take 3/4 of Opponent's health (or knock them out though that may be a bit OP)

Eiscue would be hilarious as others suggested. But I'd take another low tier replacement like Spheal (which another Anon suggested). Eiscue could do some goofy shit tho

Seeing this little shit running around with Garchomp and styling on a Charizard would be hilarious

I've been following MUGEN since Elecbyte vanished the first time 20 years ago. Making decent characters from scratch, especially for someone who's never done it, ain't the easiest thing in the world. Does OP have experience with it?
