>>53172790I think you're just thinking about the games the wrong way. Pokemon is a merchandise franchise that happens to have a video game branch. It's no different to something like FIFA.
Other developers might look at the success of these kinds of games with some jealousy they can make so much by doing so little but you also have to understand that money isn't everything to these people and the substance that Pokemon offers is and always has been equivalent to fast food, it's the cheaply made cartoon you put on to entertain your toddler. That's why even though SV were some of the best selling games last year the actual games people were discussing were Elden Ring, GOW Ragnarok, Xenoblade 3, etc. and SV were largely forgotten even on this board within a month of their release. It's sad that the best selling game isn't anywhere near the most substantial, interesting, or quality, but that's just how markets work in general. Music, cinema, literature, same shit happens everywhere.
