Ever since Ash defeated all of the Kanto gym leaders and held his own in the Indigo League, he's basically a top level talent

Biggest criticism for pokemon anime is, you never really get the sensation that Ash is this world level talent that always makes it just finger lengths away from top of the top. He always seems like a dumb naive kid thats barely scraping by, despite his repeated high level victories.
