Obviously have it revolve around actual Plasma arc, in which Ash defeats Ghetsis and N towards the end and catches a Zekrom/Reshiram. His companions are Cheren and Bianca, or it could still be Iris and Cilan.

Honestly, Bianca/Brock and Cheren as the rival seem like the perfect matchup for Ash in this series. I wonder why they didn't went for that. I also hate how elusive the anime is with game characters that aren't gym leaders and the champion.

Hilda and Hilbert notably do not want to be champions despite being the guardians of the two legendary dragons.

is it because they were older than Ash? Really that's one of the little things I think should've changed making Ash older for the season instead of starting off the narration restating that he's ten. What an odd choice after making the in-game player characters significantly older than past ones.

Nah more like the expirienced chump that got second place in Sinnoh and ended up cocky because of it.
Ash finally starts to realize how much work Brock put in to help and teach him so he practices some pokemon care for that season.

Was about to post this. I get they wanted to "reboot" the series but that's a stupid goal as long Ash was still around.

This would probably get old after a while, but I'd like seeing an un-nerfed Pikachu just roflstomping everything until the League as a tongue-in-cheek nod to how long the series had been going on by then.

This was good but Cilan following Ash shouldn't be because he sees potential in Ash. It should stick to the games interpretation that Shadow triad follow Ghetsis out of loyalty but its his adventuring with Ash, their showdown, and ultimately Ghetsis showing his true colors that brings him around.

DP was setting up a great send-off, as did Battle Frontier and frankly Johto. Most people wouldn't have cared as long as Ash and his old Pokemon were vindicated.

Journeys is what happens when something goes on more decades than it should.

Yup. IMO, Ash should have been retired at the end of Johto with MPM being what should have been his final arc 20+ years ago.

Maybe don't softreset Ash as a character and keep the Rocket x Plasma plotline as planned.

agreed, although I liked Ash returning for AG and DP because it was still the Japan regions and both coincided with remakes of Kanto and Johto, giving us opportunities to see Ash's old mons again in modern style.

BW should've been the clean slate point.
