>>53173138Because even in Gen 1 there were a lot of Pokemon that were very similar to one another, like Clefairy VS Jigglypuff for example , both of them are honestly pretty weak but Magic Guard makes Clefairy very useful ingame, especially in a Kanto title where there are Zubats and Koffing everywhere spreading status, meanwhile Competitive Jigglypuff takes a Pokemon that's otherwise not very strong and makes it a real force on the battlefield with pretty a pretty simple method to power it up.
So without abilities, you have two blobs with similar stats, movepools and designs and with them you have a conditional wall and a conditional wall breaker. That's just one example but there are a few more like Dugtrio/Sandslash, or Cloyster/Dewgong or the plethora of flying and mono-normal Pokemon. Gen 1 had a lot of Pokemon that share typings and are even found in the exact same area without being version exclusive.
>>53173163> so the effort is better spent elsewhere. That's the other major issue with LGPE, the supposed effort that comes with cutting the dex is nowhere to be seen, even the thing LGPE was praised most for, the following Pokemon, had been datamined from Pokemon SM, released several years prior.
Like in PLA's case that's when all the models got updated and we got a ton of new animations and such, but nothing of the sort is found in LGPE, again, things are removed and nothing takes its place, so it's just a lesser experience.
