>>53175586>This individualistic lifestyle where people only think or care about their direct surroundings wasn't the case for most of history. Please I'm begging you to open a history book. All of humanity has been like this, communities where everyone cares for everyone but doesn't even know if others exist and if they do, they don't care about them, and if they do, it's because they're enemies/rivals.
It's unhealthy for the human psyche to burden itself with so many problems, we weren't meant to have access to constant news from all over the world, to flood our minds with negativity and sorrow 24/7. It puts us in a constant depressed state of mind, makes us feel powerless, gives us a feeling of "why bother if the world is such chaos". Humans were meant to just care about their community and those close to them.
I care about my family (Is my mom's new medicine working? Will my uncle finally quit his job that makes him so miserable?), about my friends (Did X decide what career to follow? I hope Z arrived safely from his road trip), even my acquaintances (I bet that girl from college will nail that internship! My teacher looked stressed, hope everything's alright), I care about my neighbors (Did the old lady get that bump checked? I'm so happy their newborn baby is healthy!), about our local fauna and flora, about our politics, about the justice system jailing murderers like it has done twice this week, I care about what happens around me and things that can affect those I know. I have no time nor mental energy to burden myself worrying about things happening thousands of miles away, things I can't do anything about. I can feel empathy and stay informed but that's it, and it's not individualistic, it's realistic, it's healthy.
Worrying so much about every single little bad thing in the world will only rot your mind and make you unable to help those close to you, don't let that happen.
