But he needed his full power to defeat Leon and not Cynthia. At the end of the day both Leon and Cynthia just used Dynamax with Leon using it twice and Ash having his three gimmicks + one more extra Dynamax. This vs Cynthia Dynamax vs Ash's Mega Evolution.

Aura isn't a gimmick and he clearly tells Lucario to channel his Aura, use it it to predict Mr. Rime's movements and then use it to power up Aura Sphere. Unlike Jobiytha Leon just handled it like a boss. She lost.

Thats ok, he can have his meaningless rank if it makes him feel better. If he had faced Ash earlier in the bracket - he would have lost earlier.

Everyone with eyes can see Cynthia as the superior trainer - with a better record, less losses, better feats, better performance vs legendaries/Ash and 1 more gimmick. More varied team as well, with Spiritomb hax adding an extra layer.

How did Cynthia’s gimmick help her? Just barely saving her ass from a gimmick less jobber in the first round and in the second round dyanamx being so weak it could’ve hold off Lucario for her ace to finish it off.

Why is this so difficult to accept? In the ANIME gimmicks decided it all. Cynthia (2) having more gimmicks clearly sets her apart from the rest and makes her better than Leon (1).

In the games they dont matter much, thats why the vanilla BDSP teams stomp everyone else.

Why should we assume that argument is correct at all anyway? You choose to imagine that Cynthia is stronger because she MIGHT be harder to beat in a hypothetical situation where she is buffed and others aren't. What stops someone from imagining Leon finding a random Charizardite and Z-stone, using both, and being stronger with 3 gimmicks than Cynthia with her 2 gimmicks?

Some oddities here. Like not giving Colress Magnezone, but with 128 competitors I those were bound to come up.
Not too bad. Some things like adding Toxitricity to Roxie's team are thematically useful, but do change her from canon. I think making Megas, Z-Moves, etc, a thing only in the later stages was an error. Backporting them to earlier generations is difficult but for later gens its a fundamental part of many teams.
There's no perfect way to do it any way you go I suppose.

Her being brought back several times in the games or the anime outside of her region where characters like Steven (pre-championship) or Alder weren't show that.
