>>53209111It's better to have a thread than a discord, that doesn't mean the threads are higher quality. The reason discord servers are bad is it leads down an inevitable chain of events;
>broadening leads to narrowingIts easier and faster to post on a discord and comes with a notification, and also it won't fall off page 10. People always say "why not have both and post im both", but they never post in both. Posting always moves over time to the server. Because of that, people post less and less in the threads, and then the threads die.
>no new bloodOnce the threads are dead and everyone is on discord, it because an insulated community that just gets more hyperfocused and specific. Since no one can find a server like finding a thread, you will only ever lose people over time, or stagnate.
>in-fightingOnce a group is fully installed it becomes what people use the buzzword "circlejerk" to describe. It's just drama and namedropping and grudges and messy bullshit nonstop. You also get a semblance of leadership, which is never appropriately handled, or even appropriately decided on who's in charge. This leads to dissatisfaction and frustration in what's left of the community. Eventually, this is the end of the line.
I think what people who shitpost about trannycord or whatever miss is that it's discord SERVERS that are bad, not discord itself. It's just a messaging app, it's no worse that any other. But, servers put strain on a community and it leads to bad outcomes. Yeah the threads are cancer and the epic memelords thinking they're funny for doing the same joke for the 80th time are exhausting, but it's better than a discord server in the long run.
