But you'd have to be blind to think the series isn't going downhill.
Every year the games make more and more money, and they keep getting cheaper and cheaper.
Final Fantasy X cost $32 million to make, came out in 2001, and still looks better than Gen 9 does. Pokemon is the most profitable franchise in the world, they probably make $32 million in a fucking day.
Compared to the DS era the games look worse, sound worse, and play worse. There are more Pokemon in the games and they're less linear, but the freedom to play the game with a team of your favorites has been taken away.
All of this is subjective. If you think they that Gens 8 & 9 are the cat's meow I'm happy for you. I'm not happy for me, and I won't be until the series can recapture a fragment of what made it great.
