This is how everyone can bust fat loads to anime girls, but if you saw one IRL you'd scream.
2-D works better for depicting unrealistic and fantastical creatures like pokemon.
Comical or strange design elements like oversized heads and limbs don't stick out because 2-D gives much larger allowances for such things.
Problems with 3-D models like water types floating in the air are much larger issues. Problems like pokemon appearing strangely sized are much larger issues. Problems likes pokemon designs appearing strange or unattractive from certain angles the Devs didn't originally plan for become larger issues. Etc.
