The only true nonsense in SwSh's plot is the very contrived way they did the "Oleana overhears you and tries to stop you from interrupting the meeting" thing. But everything with Rose is very easy to understand. He was obsessed with his vision and got impatient/upset Leon didn't see it as important. It doesn't matter if he didn't wait for Leon since the game had already set up earlier that Rose is whimsical and does whatever he wants when he wants regardless of others.

i don't know about rose being a schizo. if you learnt that your region's energy would completely run out within 1000 years, would you just do nothing? rose is the only one in position to actually stop it, and a major part of his character is how he's very quick to act on things and has a deep love for galar... the place basically depends him. can you imagine how much of a burden that would be? he's the only one who can do anything, and he knows how to do it, even if it's potentially very risky. i can agree though both leon and rose were being retarded in that conversation. this is where i bring one of rose's japanese quotes in: 'adults get in the way of their pride and can't talk honestly.'
i think the reason they made rose do it mid match was just because the devs realised nothing pointed to rose being particularly villainous at that point in the story, and were just desperate

The easiest way is by literally adding one line about how Eternatus is going to wake up at this specific time and there's nothing he can do to stop it.

How I would improve the overall game is by giving more focus to Rose and what he's doing by having you hunt Wishing Pieces with Bede competing against you. Which would give him more time to be an actual rival and dick to you.
I would also change the 1000 years to 100 and be more specifically about their ability to Dynamax, which is essentially the backbone of their economy.
You should also be able to fight the Minor League Gym Leaders. Maybe even have that as part of the registration process. Post-game would probably be better though.
The only thing about the twins I'd change is they actually get the comeuppance and the final fight take place in the palace. Preferably under stained glass.

Lowering it to 100 years makes the impact into nothing. It also makes the player character into an unquestionable asshole by ensuring that Galar's energy resources will run out in the future. 1000 years? That gives you time to at least plan, and paints Rose as being dangerously impatient to fix a known problem
