I love Sceptile my favorite all time starter. The first good grass starter. Venasuar was ok but heavily overshadowed by Charizard and Blastosie, and Meganium was a complete joke. Sceptile beats both Blaziken and Swampert 1v1 and outspeeds most mons at the time of his release, and had the best and coolest sounding signature move Leaf Blade.

It's one of the least consistent plot points in the franchise, how do evil teams steal pokémon and force them to fight if the pokémon can just decide to walk away? How do some pokémon just get out of their pokeball at will and can also straight up ditch their trainers? The whole thing makes absolutely no sense
