So that if someone puts it to sleep, it can fight back, because yes, they did anticipate people would try to put it to sleep to mitigate its rampaging. It also has a PRZCureBerry. They weren't designing for the meta anon. They were designing to challenge people who were accustomed to the basic bitch strategies of the mainline series.

I meant that trainers in RGBYGSC had basic bitch strategies, not you. You inflict status on them and the best any of them can do is Full Restore or maybe Rest. Having a Gyarados with an answer to two of the statuses that will stop it from being a rampaging beast is pretty high level play for NPCs - and it paid off since it beat the best plays Jynx could muster. That's okay. Even the best Smogon players don't win every fight, and since Stadium 2 matches are set you can now design a team more able to take him on. I believe in you anon. I believe that you can git gud.

You really gotta make dedicated teams for both Stadium games. Clone your TMs, stuff your Pokemon full of vitamins, grind for stat exp, etc.

Once you do though, both of them are super fun, they really take advantage of the mechanics of the first 2 gens for better or worse.

Forgot to add, I don't remember exactly what I used for Stadium 1, but you can probably win with the usual OU suspects like Alakazam, Exeggutor, Chansey, etc. Tauros isn't as dominant in Stadium, since Hyper Beam forces you to skip a turn.

Substitute is basically mandatory on all your PKMN in Stadium 1, since it blocks status effects and every damn thing loves to spam confusion, sleep and especially paralysis.

Snorlax is the king of gen 2, yeah. But since Stadium 1/2 have the 3v3 format instead of letting you use a full team, I wanted to have Pokemon who could hit a lot of things super effectively and cover each other's weaknesses decently.

Houndoom is probably the best Fire type in gen 2 other than Ho-oh imo.

Bro when you are using Smogon sets for shitmons they are specifically made to counter one or two pokemon. Nobody is using ampharos or typhlosion in ou. I don't even think jynx is used that much either.

gyarados dies to thunderpunch from typhlosion because gyarados has to recharge and is outsped? unless for some ungodly reason you used the typhlosion set with hp grass and dynamic punch, which are there to counter quagsire and tyranitar specifically (personally i think swagger and toxic would have been better choices for that).
