>>53229749>Johtomons being rare it's a meme?Yes and no. Their rarity is highly exaggerated and outside of the 6 or so Kanto-only ones most are reasonably obtainable. However, they are rarer than Gen1 Pokemon so if the player isn't actively looking for them, they can be missed.
>SentretIs very common but only on the route just outside of New Bark Town (also just outside Lake Of Rage in Crystal but it's less common there), if you rush though and only go in the grass when you have to and never go back there it's entirely possible to never encounter a wild Sentret.
Also its only in the Morning/Day
Compare this to something like Ratatta which is on almost every route ad dungeon in teh game, and can be found at all times.
>Phanpy Assuming your playing Crystal its a 5% encounter rate on Route 46. If you take some time to explore there and grind a bit for about 30 encounters (lets say 30 seconds between each wild Pokemon encounter) you'll more than likely to see one fairly soon. Also iirc you don't need to go to that route for any reason so its easily missed. .
Also it can only be found the Morning.
>Snubbull Only on 2 routes in Johto. and I think most of the grass on those routes is avoidable so if you're the type to walk around grass to avoid wild Pokemon you'll miss it. 30% encounter is common, but it has a flee chance . Also, its only Morning/Day.
>Heracross/Aipom/PinecoYou had to actively teach Headbutt to one your your pokemon and search for Headbutt trees. Head is an extrememly good move for early game 70BP and a 30% Flinch chance, and Headbutt trees are everywhere, so it's not really a burden to do but it still required effort on the player's part.
tdlr: people who rush through the game are going to have trouble finding Gen 2 Pokemon, (these also tend to be the same people who say Johto is "too small" and GSC "has no content").
