>>53233860>Classic Era Its gen 1 and 2 only. Its when pokemania was at its absolute peak with the release of go being a close 2nd.
I was there and nothing has come close since.
>Dark ages Gen 3 and diamond and pearl.
Pokemon at its lowest point popularity wise. Casual fans and normies moved on from the fad and dedicated fans felt fucked over by lack of trading from gen 2 and the lack of favorites alienated them.
Theres a reason the TCG goldmine stops before gen 3. Also Pokemon 4 was the final movie to get a wide theatrical release until recently.
>The Renaissance Platinum, HG/SS, B/W and the sequals.
We were eating well. Platinum was the defibrillator the series needed. The gen 2 remakes took the ideas from the gen 1 remakes and ran with it. The box art for all of these games are striking and there was alot of experimenting.
The pokewalker, hard mode, online features besides battles and trades.
I dont include diamond and pearl because honestly they were not received well. Not by mass audiences anyway. I think gen 3 still burned some people and the DS wasn't the "everyone has one" item it became yet.
>Resurgance X/Y, OR/AS, S/M, US/UM and GO
Pokemon became popular again, and in a big way. The tcg gained footing against mtg and yugioh. Theatrical movie releases started again, GO was fuckin insane. This is also when gimmicks were introduced the anime picked up alot of traction at this time to. I think this is when pokemon became a sort of "ever green" franchise to the masses. It wasnt just a fad that stuck around too long. You had parents who grew up on gen 1 or 2 now having kids who were now also into pokemon.
>New eraSW/SH to now
Probably the most divisive the series ever been. The spin off games feel like they have more effort put into them then the mainline games, go has fallen off quite a bit. The anime as we know it is now over.
Despite sales being high due to the switchs large user base im not sure where the series is going. Games are full 3D now
