I preferred the old IQ system and would have preferred for it to be retained (but with more gummis / less grinding) instead of just one skill per Pokemon. The different IQ groups made each Pokemon feel like it had its own unique strengths and weaknesses.
Also wasn't a fan of the lowered difficulty - the game just vomits stat boost items at you, you can have way too many Pokemon with you at once, and a few of the lategame dungeons like Western Cave were significantly nerfed. I felt like I was just way too overpowered and didn't get to experience the unique field effects they made for bosses like Lugia and Ho-Oh because I just effortlessly crushed them in a way that didn't feel rewarding. If you're going to give me all these crazy mechanics to play with, at least make sure the game can handle them, you know?
I also wasn't a fan of the artstyle at first, though it's definitely grown on me.
Definitely an improvement over the original overall, though. Would absolutely recommend and play another game like this.
