Kalos was unironically a soulful place but the problem was the plot progression of the main campaign was dogshit, if XY had a good Z Version that addressed its issues and added some extra content it would probably be as well-regarded as Emerald/Platinum are compared to RS/DP respectively

I put XY on the same level as DP, that is to say they're both shit with a lot of pacing and gameplay issues but still the region is nice and I otherwise like the games just fine.

Difference is, Platinum saved Sinnoh by fixing all of those issues but meanwhile XY's Z version got shelved after GameFreak caved to fan demands and put all hands on deck to remake Hoenn instead.

Kalos looks beautiful, and most of the soundtracks are very nice too.
It undeniably has issues, as well as XY as a whole, but I genuinely like Kalos very much. As a region I definitely enjoyed it more than Sinnoh, Unima and any post-Gen6 region.

Yeah that's my assumption. Same thing happened a few years ago with Sinnoh, Sinnoh zoomers on social media are the entire reason we have BDSP at all. I'm now a 30 year old boomer, I can confirm the cycle is truly real at this point.
