probably because I can imagine him getting rid of one layer of his shell (the purple spiky outer one) and keeping the inner grey layer. he would still be able to fight and shoot the forehead spikes and shit

other Shell Smash mons I just imagine them becoming naked. especially cursed when it's turtle mons

Cloyster got an almost Jynx treatment where its design alternates between black and purple for its face. its in-game colored sprites mostly have purple but some merch like this have it pitch black. the black makes it look like a stylized face hidden within the shadows of its shell, pretty cute

I really like the dark glossy purple color they gave it in SV. I just really like its SV model textures in general, I wasn't so sure about Pokemon going with more detailed textures style for the models but mons like this make me really like the new style (the Pokemon actually look good compared to the ugly ass overworld)
