I feel like ever since Sinnoh, they've been trying to force every type of biome into regions. Why a desert and a tundra are in the same region, I don't understand.

Sinnoh makes sense. It's based on Hokkaido and there are small desertic areas in japan due to exceptional conditions

Regions have become theme parks since Unova.

Sinnoh definitely doesn't make sense. It'd be one thing if the desert was cold, but the entire Battle Zone island is explicitly tropical despite being in the northernmost part of the region right next to a frozen tundra.
