I’ll agree that simplifying the vines was lazy as sin, and I definitely would’ve preferred if they were properly modelled, but I honestly think it looks fine otherwise. If everything was drawn like on
Tangela, I fear it would’ve been too busy to work.
I really like Tangrowth honestly. It’s a refreshingly subdued change from its predecessor (as opposed to other shit like Dusknoir and Rhyperior which are drastic shifts from their prevos), and I enjoy how it looks much more gentle and wise to me. Very huggable. It trades in some of the weirdness Tangela had (shoes, undefined body) for a lot more subdued charm (soft appendages, smaller face, makeshift arms) and it just really works for me.
10/10, would hug again
