They should have at least kept the same color scheme between all evolutions, as now Dragonite looks like a completely unrelated dragon pokemon that just got tacked on the end of the evolution line because GF wanted there to be only one dragon-type evolutionary line in gen 1.
Besides, Numelgon does the cute chubby dragon waifu-type design better.
>>53266550Generally, any time a pokemon loses distinctive traits while evolving is a bad thing. Rolycoly is a very good example: the first stage is extremely distinctive, with it only having a single eye (a feature not shared by many other pokemon) and a wheel instead of legs (unique for the evolutionary line at the time). The next stage loses the mono-eye for a more normal head and face, but still retains the wheels even if they are smaller and prominent part of the design. By the time you get to Coalossal, however, all the unique aspecs of the earlier evolutions are gone and you're left with a very generic-looking rock monster.
