>>53267750Honestly this is the bigger issue. It's not as much that this doesn't go punished, it's the fact the ruleset is fucking inconsistent, and much tamer stuff does go punished. For example some people get Pokémon removed because they wrote the wrong item on the timesheet (ex: Meadow Plate instead of Miracle Seed which have identical effect anyway).
I know someone who made it to the top cut of a big tournament, his ace was a perfectly legal Metagross with Clear Body, but the (handwritten) sheet said Clear Smog instead of Clear Body. Which isn't even an ability and thus can't even be hacked into as an ability. Plus the teamsheet had to be written in English and he isn't even a native speaker. This was before open teamsheets became a thing so it's not like the misspell was going to confuse his opponent either. He was forced to not use his Metagross and that cost him the Top 8 match.
"Rules are rules" but rules are fucking retarded. Meanwhile other players in the past have been got away with impossible sets like Sejun Park's Magmar or Arashi's Heatran (for example the latter had Eruption, which was an eventmon supposedly tied to a specific nature, which this mon didn't have. This long before mints were a thing)
Now the funny thing is, most of these "pro players" barely gen Pokémon if any at all; they have armies of bootlickers who make the Pokémon for them and nobody gives a fuck if they're genned and/or have legal values. Even local pseudo-VIPs only known by a community of a few dozens do this.
Believe me, I don't give a fuck if someone brings genned Pokémon as long as their internal data checks out with what's legally obtainable. Problem is how fucking inconsistent is the ruleset a the moment of giving punishment.
