This proves that there is no reason for "Shitmons" to be a thing (just have them early game mons evolve into something stronger to keep the RPG progression aspect). Any early game bug could be good and the only reason why anything stays a shitmons is due to spite n Game Freak's part.

Most birds are pretty good. Everyone used Staraptor in gen 4 because it just fucking destroyed everything. And Talonflame was outright cancer.

Talonflame became cancer in competitive but it was a nice mon to use in game when you had no idea how good it was gonna be. It would've been more balanced in game too if stealth rocks were actually setup for once or they limited team members to how many the opponent had (but desu talonflame would sweep most with brave bird).

Starters and early game mons are supposed to suck later to incentivze you to catch stronger Pokemon
The idea that the starter should be the strongest mon in the game or even good at the end is so retarded Elon Musk tweets about it

I’m not the one who realized this but the Pidgey line was so bad in RBY that it tainted every other early game bird since

I never understood why they had Pidgey and Spearow in the same general vicinity when the latter is so much better. Evolves way earlier, much stronger and faster, and learns better moves.

Dodrio is better than both of them, but they don't show up until much later.

Shame too, Super Luck is a cool ability but it's JUST slow enough to not be able to use it well at all due to it's shit defenses, alongside a really shallow movepool. Going from 93 to 103 and getting SOME form of Fighting coverage would to wonders for it.

Pidgey isn't nearly as bad as you're calling it, Gust, Quick Attack were Normal type moves so Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow etc. all had STAB from the start
