Haven't followed anything Pokemon related for a while, any good ROMhacks come out over the past couple years? Radical Red and Unbound were the last big ones I played

Pokémon Inclement Emerald is a good ROM hack.
It's in an awkward holding pattern right now, as the developer is building version 2.0 with major upgrades, but it feels a bit like vaporware.
All the same, even the pre-2.0 version is great.

Mystery Dungeon origins is a new cool engine that ports Mystery Dungeon to pc. Pokemon Wilds had the comfiest threads, think Minecraft x Gen 2. I know this is gonna get memed, but Crystal Clear v2.5.5 is nice, dunno if the vanilla skin patch still works.

Emerald Rogue was weird but cool, Pokemblem exists, apparently there are Pokemon Conquest rom hacks and gen 4 leaked some time ago, new maps could be made. Spaceworld 97 was amazing, posting at the Hiroshima Unown thread was kino. Have you tried Fire Red Team Rocket's edition? Gaia was good, Xenoverse was hype.

It reminded me of part of why I don't like crystal clear despite beating that game twice. Its charming going to the gamefreak building and talking to the devs in the mainline games, but they don't talk like faggots like the fools gold devs do. Its a shame because I managed to make a team with some of the few cool designs in the kanto-johto dex (gengar, kingdra, steelix (shiny), gliscor, snorlax i think, and cursola)

a few years ago somebody on /vp/ posted a youtube video of a gen 1 ROM hack about a tree. it was definitely made as a joke
the play walks up to a cut bush but instead of the normal CUT prompt the bush starts talking and it calls itself "the most amazing tree in the world" or something
i'm not even sure if there were any actual pokemon in the hack
idk if it was an actual ROM released to the public or just something that somebody made for their youtube channel
anybody know what i'm talking about?

Honestly might be my favorite fangame to run through because of how much variety it has in both Pokemon you can catch and the challenges it throws at you, plus how customizable you can make your playthrough with the passwords.

Just download a mod to take out Victory Road and hold down X and speedup through regular dialogue

I got stalled out by the fucking gliscor at the flying gym in Pokemon unbound.

fuck that thing, fuck making me grind encounters for better IVs, fuck natures.

Also taking the Beldum starter fucking crippled me, that thing's special attack is such garbage.

I kinda have beef with how Megas get introduced around the third gym but you can't use them yourself until Silph Co. where it peaks with a Multi battle where you're the only one without a Mega Bracelet.

I also never get why people are angry that they don't have all the tools the AI has. That's how every video game in existence builds difficulty. Imagine if every boss in Hollow Knight or Dark Souls or something went down after you hit them 5 or 6 times, the game would be laughably shit. If it were a normal Pokemon game which are supposed to be baby tier difficult then I'd agree but you're playing a game that specifically advertises a harder experience.
