The fact they're all under the care of that pikachu bint and LGPE showed you can style your Pika's hair (as well as the haircut brothers/groomers services offered in the core series) leaves plausible deniability it was yer one styling their hair to show their individuality and not inherent traits of the actual pokémon.

actually I forgot extreme speed was event locked so replace that for Dig or something support-esque like Light Screen. The anime actually made Dig look powerful when Leon's Zard used it.

and I guess ES would kinid of beat the point of Trailblaze boosting speed.
