The satellite countries around are just shitholes we can agree on that. But Rome evolved from Greece. The Latin alphabet stems from Greece. The Cyrilian alphabet is from Greece. The word alphabet among with countless others, are Greek.
Funnily enough ancient historical descriptions of heroes depicts them as PYRR (fire) haired or blonde/golden. Even today's Greeks themselves say that they've been browned because of intermixing passerbys. So if you see a blonde/red haired Greek with light eyes most likely you're looking at a rare specimen that is the true ancestor of Ancient Greece.
