Did up better into the top meta threats depending on the form (Blaze blanked Meowscarada, Aqua beat non-tera Armarouge, both dealt with Gholdengo pretty handily though Blaze had a better matchup, etc).
With said threats on the downswing (Meowscarada especially) Arcanine is back in fasion for it's better general utility.

It's just been on the natural downswing, though it's weird how between the last tourney and this one it seemingly just fucking died as a strat. My best guess is that people noticed that there were strategies that were just as if not more effective and decided to use those instead so they could actually have fun.

Finished the night with 6 wins and 3 losses. I needed at least 7 wins to make it to day 2.
I'm 110th place out of 662. Only the top 55 are making the cut. It feels bad. If I didn't play like shit in a few of my games I could have made it to 7.
Got some championship points though I guess lol

People were worried the meta would become super centralized so early into the game but things are trending towards becoming another Series 1 in terms of balance-a few "big" mons that're gonna be on most teams of a given archetype but plenty of room for effective experimentation and off-meta picks

Thank you too, I could be a lot better though. The mistakes I made look so obvious in hindsight. Also not quite as close as possible, there were several other 6-3s who had stronger 6-3s than me, because all of my losses were 0-2s but not all of my wins were 2-0s. My team was Torkoal, Fluttermane, Coalossal, Slitherwing, Iron Hands and Oranguru.

Yeah a few cool stories. A lot of people really liked my team, the second guy who beat me finished 7 and 2 so he's moving on to day 2, a lot of really awesome people were there, I sat next to a funny Naruto cosplayer around round 5, the guy who handed me my 1st loss was a young guy who seemed pretty nervous but he was really nice, he seemed to have thought that he won because his team was a strong match against mine which was partially true but i also misplayed badly. And the guy who handed me my 3rd loss was extremely friendly and really liked talking to me about how the match went, he thought my team was very cool and he was happy he brought his Ceruledge but also worried because it was Tera steel and I have 2 fighting types. He also complimented me, he said I was a smart player which is why he knew I wouldn't protect on the first turn his Ceruledge was out against my Fluttermane because it would have been the obvious play

That only around 4% more than Gholdengo got in series 1 overall, and far less than it's usage rates in specific series 1 tournies. I'm not saying it's PERFECTLY balanced, but it's not overly centralized either

I don't think anybody I saw this time was famous but I did beat Andy La in Orlando.
Coalossal is Tera grass with weakness policy and steam engine, Adamant 82 speed. I can activate steam engine on myself with Slither Wing's Flame Charge, Torkoal's Lava Plume, or Fluttermane's Mystical Fire, Oranguru can also activate Coalossal's weakness policy with Bulldoze if I want to make him slow.

I didn't see Rosemary lol sorry, I wasn't at any of the streams. I was only ever on camera with a guy who was giving out packs if I could answer 3 pokemon trivia questions, I missed the 3rd question cause I barely played any Snap.

Coalossal won me a few games and his bulk is still good. Iron Hands can't KO him with Drain Punch without a booster energy or swords dance and he survives a jet punch at full HP as long as it's not Tera water in the rain or holding choice band or mystical water. If sun is up be even has a chance at surviving a hydro pump from a iron bundle. He also can survive getting hit with mystical fire or lava plume when he is Tera grass. And I never have to worry about great tusks when Coalossal is a grass type. Tera ground Great Tusks have hit my grass type Coal with headlong rush followed by Ice Spinner and Coal still sits pretty comfortably. My go to opener against people who run Talonflame and Great Tusk is open with Fluttermane and Coal, I Tera grass and then go dazzling gleam and rock slide and my opponent is usually down 2 mons. I was worried about doing it on an open team sheet tournament but I still won a match doing that once

I will try. I thought finishing 179th in Orlando would push me to do better, and I guess it did a little bit because I actually have championship points this time, but still only 6 wins. Need to make better move choices. My team is better than I am desu, it kind of carries me and I'm not piloting it as well I should be.

Yeah a lot of my wins seem to be coming in matches where my opponent doesn't know what to do against me or seems to just not be able to do anything, not because I'm exactly making great moves. In fact a few games I made distinctly poor moves but still pulled out a win.

There were a few annoyances but considering there were over 1 thousand card game players and over 600 SV players, it seems like everything was as efficient as you could ask for.
Talking to all the other players was very fun, everybody was very fun to talk to, there who was there because his daughter was playing in the TCG tournament and hearing him talking about how he was teaching her about money and stuff was hilarious. My round 9 opponent was a delight too, he was so thrilled just to see me using Slither Wing, he was happy I beat him with it. I think it is worth the money but I need to get better at managing money in general.
I think a lot of the people I talked to could be good friends but I didn't ask for any of their contact info.
No pokemon gf so far sadly.
