Back then the pokémon had sharp lines and depth, they looked different because the artist who made them was Ken Sugimori. Just look at the evolution of pikachu’s design over the years and you’ll see what I mean. New pokémon are gimmicky and unoriginal, simply one example is Flamigo. Yes there were a few bad designs in gen 1 but they were mostly good. The new games ALL have generally unlikeable designs

kek, no. I will never lay hands on S and V nor will I ever lay hands on any future game after that. I already gave up hope of a canon pokémon game that is good in the future. The degradation of both the games and the tv series is enough to tell you what path they took. I think it was both loss of care about the fans and moving on to a more modern audience as well as just using the name to mass produce shit games to consooom

I never noticed how common 3 fingers were in gen 1 design until now
Look at Kangaskhan, Mankey, Hitmonlee, Meowth, Charizard, Cubone, Pinsir
Just from that image alone
There’s also mon like Magmar, Blastoise, Butterfree
It’s really cohesive, and I never noticed. Do later gens have any unifying characteristics like this? I know gen 3 sticks to a very pastel color palette and some stumpy proportions, and gen 5 has a habit of giving any design some black/white because duality, but idk about the others

Charcadet colour wise is more similar to Armarouge because it’s meant to look like a little hero guy, and Armarouge is the conventional “hero” evo.

Ceruledge is the “subversive” dark knight/hero evo.

I underestimated how there were actually a couple good designs in gen 5 like scoopede even though that the gen used to be my least favorite. In gen 8 the national pokedex is incomplete for the first time. People transfer their old pokémon to the new generation. Look at a comparison between colosseum animation compared to the new one. These fucks are lazy as shit, no effort. Since they are financially secure and fine because of retards like you who buy their new games, they see no reason to change or see what went wrong. They’re just milking your nostalgia. Compare pic related to gen 1 and 2 legendaries, they’re fucking awful. Everyone knows that the new games fucking suck, stop being a dicksucker
