Can you see where they started using icons to represent types? Notice anything?
They're all inconsistent. They change not only every gen, but every APP. Pokémon GO has different type icons to the main games, which are different to the TCG (probably the best and most iconic set).
Now this turtle uses a DIFFERENT set. It doesn't even fit into its own series. Pokémon up to gen 3, 4 and 5 was consistent, it was VERY tightly designed. They never did this kind of flip-flopping between aesthetics. This turtle is emblematic of Pokémon's design philosophy now: "uhhh whatever".
No consistency, no history. Just "hurr it make cute plush"
Don't get me wrong, I didn't want it to be some "eldritch horror". Ignore me, I'm neutral in all of this. I haven't bought a Pokémon game since gen 6, when it went off the rails. Look at it honestly and what I've shown you and ask yourself if you're happy with perpetually inconsistent designs just being constantly spat out to sell soft toys to retarded young girls with daddy issues.
On top of that you get 2 (TWO) new Pokémon forms. That's...actually pathetic. Remember when we got a whole fucking roster when something new came out? Even ORAS managed at least like five new Megas.
