Anyway I don't think MD is inherently bad, I think MD when it tries to mix roguelike gameplay with another game is always mediocre and it's done it far too much. Etrian took what I liked about Etrian and diluted it. Pokemon took what I liked about Pokemon and diluted it. So on.
Shiren remained true to the roots of the genre, does its own thing instead of trying to Frankenstein some other game onto it and has the most deep, fun and overall satisfying gameplay as a result, predictably.
I'm sad Shiren is probably dead but glad if it means we never get another cheap as shit Mystery Dungeon x Game Series that doesn't mesh at all with that kind of gameplay.
