At this point, Dewgong has been associated with that term for so long that it's becoming iconic for that reason -- just like it happened for Lumineon years before.

I think that the title of "oh yeah, that exists" applies to Seadra in terms of all Pokemon, and probably Beheeyem for Pokemon as a whole. Honorable mentions to Chimecho and Carnivine, as at this point, its been years since they've been in anime and people are gradually beginning to forget

Beheeyem is such a weird Pokemon. Gen V already had Reuniclus, Gothitelle, and Musharna in terms of slow powerful mono Psychics, why did they feel the need to design another one that's worse than all of them?

it's bizarre that it's one of the original 151 but is still completely forgotten
i haven't seen it any of the games i've played in over 10 years. i only remembered that it existed after seeing one of the first anime episodes and it was mindblowing realizing dewgong IS a pokemon from the original set and is completely and utterly tossed into the void

Dewgong is odd because despite being a water/ice type it's outclassed as a water/ice type by Lapras and Cloyster in it's debut generation and never gets anything that gives you a reason to use it over them.

Yeah, the only time it ever gets a unique time to shine is if you intentionally go out of your way to catch a seel in USUM, or in XD when you can have one that comes with a lot of good doubles utility moves compared to the Spheal you also get, which would otherwise be better too

Nobody gives a shit about Golduck because Golduck has been in nearly every single Pokemon game. It'd be more interesting if Gamefreak actually made the damn thing Water/Psychic, but that will never happen so the kappa shall remain forever a common fillermon.

It's super underrated. I recently used one in my White 2 run and the Damp ability was more helpful than I expected. Golduck shines best in gen 2, especially when you know you can get an underleveled one in Ilex Forest after getting Surf. It outclasses Feraligatr in speed and special attack. What's weird and unfortunate is that it though is it learns Psychic by egg move. It wasn't until gen 4 that it could learn it by TM.

Dewgong has one incredibly niche use, where if you play Gale of Darkness it's one of the only Pokemon that learns Surf. Since it also gets Ice Beam it has decent coverage and can arguably be more useful that Walrein.
