>>53353690Oh, so it had even more working against it but sold almost as well, good to know that BDSP's bad word of mouth murdered the game that hard. Release finished games, Game Freak. You can take a break for a year if you let TPC know ahead of time, they can work out filler stuff for a year, it would also give them an excuse to keep some lesser used trademarks in circulation in various areas without being beholden to selling new Pokemon merch with a couple old favorites from the games.
>>53353925As somebody who defended the game's sales rate in this very thread, and who hasn't played it, it's very much a game that isn't for me, and also has some serious gameplay issues, but I get what they're going for. The best thing about it is that catching isn't just a mechanic, it's a system now. Pokemon really should have been going in this direction for a while, and I think it justifies overworld encounters mechanically rather than just flavorfully. Yeah, some of the quests are repetitive MMO bullshit, but Xenoblade 1 had that shit too and they figured that shit out more or less by 2 (and to a way lesser extent X). Hell, Legends has a leg up by using EXP candies instead of dumping EXP directly on you to get overleveled sometimes. I also hate some of the more action orientated stuff, and I think the way speed priority works in the game is awful, but I prefer that experiment to whatever the fuck Let's Go was doing. I'm also the guy who plays JRPGs for the gameplay and didn't play Bravely Default 2 because it had speed based turns rather than round based ones so I'm probably just really autistic.
