>>53353506I kind of felt the opposite. 1 was really too much of a basic shonen story for me, 2 and 3 at least have Takahashi's weirdness in them for considerable parts of the game. As for X being better, honestly it arguably plays better than 1 which isn't that much of an accomplishment since 1 is super basic, but X has some questionable balance that I'm not sure improves the gameplay. Say what you will about 2's more complex tech, but it made the game a lot more fun and engaging in a way that doesn't completely trivialize things. I do love a good job system though, and X and 3 both handle it fairly well but in different ways. X has a very endgame FF5 to it, while 3 does more in a BD direction. There's a lot about X I'm not sure how to feel about, but whatever that feeling is it's more than I can say for 1.
