Movie 20 was the perfect opportunity for a tribute to OS, but they dropped the ball hard by replacing Misty and Brock with literal whos and throwing in nugen shillmon like Incineroar.

Those companions weren't even in the next two movies with AU Ash, so I'm not even sure what the point of them was. They should have used Misty and Brock for all three movies in the AU timeline if they knew that Movie 22 was going to be a remake of Mewtwo Strikes Back. Really Yuyama has made some very questionable choices, so I'm glad the other writers and staff are providing more input for MPM.

What the decision even worse was the fact they brought back Misty and Brock for SM around the same time the movie came out. I think OSfags would have rather see those two in the movie then in two random SM episodes.

Yeah the AU movies were such a missed opportunity. I didn't even bother to watch the Koko movie yet, but Movie 21 was completely unremarkable. From what I remember, Ash was basically just there with very little impact on the story as a whole.

They don't have to be adaptations to have filler anon.
In the case of pokemon a new region arc usually starts around the same time as the release of a game but if a game is delayed then they'll make filler arcs like the orange islands or the battle frontier arc.

Not only was the BF arc NOT set in a new region it started in October 2005, a little over a year after the release of Emerald which would have been the start of the DP anime had the game not been delayed to the following year.

Do you understand or do I need to continue holding your hand for this explanation?
