I really liked Shudo's way of writing. It was bit unsettling and neurotic but in a grand, balls-to-the-wall way. He kinda reminds me of Yoshiyuki Tomino but instead of working on his own shows, Shudo always ended working on some directed to children stuff and was held down by producers, budget committees etc.

Not everyone can make Summer Wars. Not everyone can make Our War Game either, though. And perhaps most importantly, everyone shouldn't make the western Digimon movie, that was a clusterfuck that has lead to at least one divorce.

the series is built on morally screwy foundations so if it ended the story and lead to a more righteous and happy society it could've worked

all that said, I like his ideas but executing them well is probably the work of other staff. the episodes shudo's credited with to my knowledge are very hit or miss.

No retard, Shudo was old-fashioned, he wanted Pokemon to be a generic post-apocolyptic sci-fi fantasy anime that was starting to become popular when he first started writing for shows like Space Warrior Baldios. If Shudo remained in charge, Pokemon would never have become a franchise, it would've ended after Johto concluded and Ash, Misty and Brock went their seperate ways. People really overstate his role in the early series, in fact, he was basically responsible for all the weird early series shit that became retconned after the soft-reboot that was gen 3.
