This has always made me kind of hate Oak. I feel like in the beginning he clearly favors the protagonist too when handing out the starter Pokemon. Yeah the rival's a dick but he's still his actual grandson.

Also that stupid disapproving buzzer sound effect when you get your Pokedex rated with <10 Pokemon. Like fuck you man; if I have like 8/10 of the Pokemon I've seen and it's only the beginning of the game, that's not only a good ratio but more than he's doing (nothing).

Blue was a brat and Oak knew it. Red had the better attitude about Pokemon and so Oak favoured him so that Blue could learn from his example.

It ended up working because Blue is a more mature in GSC/HGSS.

I'd rank Sada/Turo at the bottom of the list - the real ones were negligent psychopaths, between one being a deadbeat who up and leaves while the other almost destroys Paldea with their pet project. Now, if we're talking the AI versions, they're better in the moral department, but still not really a 'Professor', especially not in the sense of the typical Pokemon Professor role. For that, I'd nominate Clavell - he's a former Professor (who used to work with the game's Professor until he left them at some point prior to the story), is the one who gives you your first Pokemon, and is ever-present throughout most of the game in some way, shape or form.
