It’s not just the vocal direction desu, Natochenny just wasn’t really a good fit for Ash at all and is even worse as his mother. She has always sounded so strained and tomboyish, unnatural: you’d think given she’s had far longer than Taylor, she’d be the best by now. Opposite, she’s now more inconsistent than ever and emotionless, just does the happy emotions fine and everything else is absolutely dry as well as soulless. And still can’t laugh if her life depended on it, oof.
I will say this, though, with lines like “Observation, I’m an observer, I’m doin’ it,” and “I’m so psyched,” “gonna be wiped” etc. that only makes modern dub Ash even worse. TPCi didn’t just downgrade the acting and music, the writing is not a pro for the current dub given it’s been 4Kids’ worst writer of S5-8 who has been in charge since S9.
