Nah, Z-Moves are better than megas and don't really overlap. Z-Moves are just neo-gems, which isn't really good but atleast they have the status stuff; which massively outdoes megas in terms of being interesting.

I prefer tera as a dynamic as well, megas are just new pokemon; that also tend to be overtuned and force the meta to warp around them. And since they're so limited; they often become a tumor rather than just a addition.
Course Dyna does lose out because said addition it adds is absolutely fucking horrific and can instantly win games and bypass any sort of coherent play.

Megas sucked because few, if any mons got it, and you either only chose the best megas or were wasting a mega slot
Z moves sucked because wasted item slot for the coin flip of game changing win or a wasted turn
Dynamax sucked because 3 turns of set up boosts + bonus power on moves meaning pick moxie or bust
Tera is ANY mon, ACTIVE UNTIL KO, only gives STAB boost, and meme immunity or meme 3/4 STAB types
