If you have no account right now, I think the best route is:

You can play both clients simultaneously on the same account, just with separate collections.
If you use the bonus currency on celebrations packs on the ptcgl store, it works out to about 0.20 per code.

Buying celebrations packs in the ptcgl in-game store is the best way to convert crystals to credits. You only get credits for cards that you already have 4 copies of.
The classic collection and secret rares are all expensive right now on ptcgo (something like 1650 silver tempest packs / $120 to get playsets). FA oak research is still affordable so only skip the gold mew.
Don't hold celebrations packs on ptcgo. It is currently the most valuable pack so you can trade for cards you want.

Slight correction. The "ultra rares" in the classic collection are 1-3 SIT per card, the "secret rares" in the classic collection are 15+ SIT per card.
Get whatever you can afford when you consider that each "missed" ultra rare dupe is 600 credits and each secret rare dupe is 1000 credits. The difference is about 80,000 credits (~8 complete decks) which probably won't matter in the long run if PTCGL has a long lifespan.

The free shit on ptcgo is almost negligible. It'd probably be better to guarantee you hit level 25 on the Live battlepass for MewVmax. If you're completely free to play it will be good to open packs in Online to fill out the 4 copies of fodder cards. As soon as you start getting more than 4 copies that set should be opened in Live for dust, but it will be such a tiny amount of dust from free packs.

XP is based on time spent in match. Deck doesn't matter. You can just have a bot afk move timers. You don't get any rewards after hitting lvl 50 on the battlepass.

The only pack worth opening on ptgcl is celebrations unless your ptcgo collection is already complete. If you have playsets of every single card in every set, there is no reason to not just redeem the packs on ptcgl.

Yeah, I'd probably just goof off with it in expanded. I have the deck made already I just like the card so I'd pick up a copy or two since I like the trainer FAs more than the originals. I'm mostly trying to get a decent set of stuff to migrate over. The only thing I'm really missing that I'd want is a FA N, but those are always expensive. I'm gonna wait for the new set to hit before I make anything for Standard though so I can weigh my options better.

when you try to import a deck, it doesn't just put in whatever versions of a card you actually have if you don't have what is in the decklist, Online would let you still make the deck and swap out the ones you don't have for ones you do have manually, but for whatever reason, Live doesn't make the deck at all if you don't have one of the cards in the deck, it's annoying

thing is it's not even "niche" or advanced meta rulings or anything - people try to discard 4+ cards off serena, find 2 of the same energy with mirage gate, use phoebe and try to attack with a VSTAR instead of a VMAX, etc - things that are all quite plain and simply answered by reading the card, or i'll explain what specific card(s) do at least twice and they'll still try and do the wrong (but more convenient) play while having the "correct" one up their sleeve. half of them not only own blinged out playsets of the cards in question anyway (which kinda doesnt really give you an excuse given in some cases youve technically spent hundreds on a card you supposedly havent read properly), but manage to play the cards correctly the entire game up until the point itd be convenient not to do so. a lot of these guys do their regional/worlds circuits too so it's surprising they havent been caught at a major level yet, or maybe they just have too much pride to lose to kids/"noobs" that they have to cheat at locals

I've been goofing around with a Zeraora VSTAR deck using Arceus V to cheat energy onto it since there's no electric/energy ramping besides Flaafy which seems pretty bad. I'm winning probably 80+% of my games, although I've yet to queue against LZbox or Lugia and admittedly they both seem explicitly better (which is fine, not trying to make a tier 1 deck out of this). I was wondering if there was anything I could run to help cheat energy onto my Zeraoras more consistently, potentially having me not need to run this Arceus package. The deck's working fine, it just feels mildly inconsistent in regards to getting energy on my Zeraora.
