After the games came out, everyone and their mom preferred either Rowlet or Decidueye, which is why the Owl started getting promoted AFTER Gen 7 already started/passed with Pokken, Unite, PLA, etc.
Incineroar is the corporate shillmon that failed to catch on, Decidueye is the people's champ.
