My thought would be that of an amnesiac MC being found spefically by Marnie in the alleyways of Spikemuth and she being the first person the MC sees, making him fall in love with her. From there the MC will have to earn his keep in the gym/city as he has nowhere to go, first living in some storage room in the gym then eventually upgrading to live near Marnie or taken in her home, etc., depending on how you write Piers as being the final hurdle in the relationship or the big brother who has to go on training around the world after Marnie has already become the gym leader, the latter allows the MC to live closer with Marnie and do lucky pervert scenarios without having to explain where Piers is or what his thoughts would be. Furthermore, the MC being an amnesiac allows a good contrast between him and Marnie, him having to find his place in the world, while Marnie not knowing if she truly is the proper place she wants to be (after all she wanted to become Champion instead), and through romance/falling in love showing their place is with each other. Main conflict would likely reside in Marnie trying to become the successor to the Spikemuth gym, her attempts in keeping it up, defeating the gym inspectors like Nurse Joy and her Latias, cleaning up Spikemuth to be more attractive to challengers and people, and in the golden/secret ending Marnie somehow defeating Gloria and becoming Champion and her outfit literally her Neo-Champion outfit from Pokemon Masters,
